Highlights

During 2010-11, IOCP provided emergency assistance to 1,492 households (4,346 individuals). Following are program highlights for this period.

Caring for Kids Initiative

• 106 children from low-income families received tuition scholarships for quality early education
• 100% of CfKI scholarship recipients entering Wayzata Schools’ kindergarten were deemed prepared for kindergarten
• Literary skills of CfKI students in kindergarten were significantly higher than students from low-income families who did not have the benefit of CfKI programming

CONECT

• 193 youth participated in Homework Clubs
• 103 Homework Club volunteers
• 180 youth attended 8-week Camp CONECT
• 7 programs for adults offered at CONECT sites
• 199 residents attended regular community dinners

Employment Services

• Provided employment services to 75 individuals
• Helped secure 88 jobs, 21 with benefits
• Expanded computer training options for clients seeking employment
• Provide a weekly online job search

Food Shelf

• Served 1,280 families, impacting 3,791 individuals
• Distributed 770,227 lbs. of food and 1,947 food certificates in response to 14,209 requests
• Provided holiday meals for 946 families
• Collected 53,317 lbs. of food and $55,740 during the Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign and the Feinstein Foundation Challenge

Housing

• 468 families received emergency housing assistance
• 54 homeless families received housing assistance
• Served 20 families (50 individuals) through Project Success, which helps families achieve long-term housing stability
• 6 families moved into newly renovated affordable rental housing units in Wayzata
• Completed planning for the development of 6 affordable rental townhomes

Transportation

• Arranged 516 rides to Adult Basic Education classes
• Provided 348 rides to medical appointments
• 634 families received gas certificates

Special Programs

• Linked 464 families requesting holiday gift assistance with sponsors
• Coordinated the donation and distribution of school supplies for 600 K–12 students
• Distributed 713 Easter baskets

Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners responds to emergency needs, moves families toward stability and positive change, and engages volunteers and partners in service, leadership, and capacity building.
