View the Sleep Out toolkit with all the details you need to get involved in the Sleep Out. Gather your scout troop, school, faith community, family, friends and business associates. Ignite the fire of hope for struggling families and kids by participating in one or many Sleep Out activities.

This Toolkit includes: Nov. 12 Sleep Out registration directions, details about how to organize your own Sleep Out activity and set up an online fundraising page on, an inspirational story of a family supported by the Sleep Out, and Sleep Out key messages so you can share the Sleep Out story with others. Also included are promotional materials for you to post, send or email to others to help spread the word.

The Sleep Out was started by “Shoebob” Fisher in the cold winter months of 1996. Today thousands of people contribute through the Sleep Out to help low-income families and children of the eight west suburban communities Interfaith Outreach serves. Grateful families who have moved from survive to thrive tell us they could not have done so without the holistic support of affordable housing, education, employment services, child care, transportation, food and clothing that Sleep Out donations make possible.
