Spreading Our Wings for 30 Years

Spread Your Wings, held Thursday, June 25, at the historic Lafayette Club, was the signature event for IOCP’s 30th anniversary celebration.

“The event exceeded our goal,” said Jill Kohler, development director. “We raised about $195,000, including $70,000 for our Employment Program. As always, this community showed its wonderful support—the same support that has kept IOCP going for 30 years.”

Highlighting the evening was former IOCP client Ouida Rattliffe, who shared her story about how IOCP helped her find decent employment.

Two IOCP board members, Robyn Cook and Rebecca Sundquist, chaired the event. Joining them as honorary cochairs were long-time supporters Jim and Kathryn Ramstad. Scores of volunteers chaired committees and helped out in countless ways to make the evening a huge success!

IOCP founder and executive director LaDonna Hoy was also honored for her work on behalf of struggling families in the community.

Begun in 1999 to honor the organization’s 20th anniversary, Spread Your Wings raises funds for IOCP’s emergency services and raises friends—through the dedicated volunteers who plan and put on the biannual event and the hundreds of people who attend.

The first Spread Your Wings event was held in 1999 at Cargill’s Office Center. In 2001, General Mills hosted the gala. Providence Academy served as host site for the 2003 and 2005 events. In 2007, the fifth Spread Your Wings celebration was held at the Sheraton West.
