Camp CONECT receives Healthy Kids Grant
General Mills Foundation has awarded Camp CONECT $10,000 to promote healthy eating and physical fitness.
General Mills Champions for Healthy Kids is a comprehensive initiative to help youth improve their nutrition and fitness behaviors through community organizations that develop innovative programs around good nutrition and fitness. A registered dietician and fitness expert will serve as advisors during the 8-week summer camp. The evaluation process includes pre- and post-camp surveys, weekly participant surveys, activity and participation tracking, and parent post-camp survey.
More than 1,200 organizations applied for a Champions grant. There were 50 national recipients, and IOCP was one of the 20 local Champions selected.
