Cargill Foundation boosts CfKI's capacity
Thanks to a $50,000 grant from The Cargil Foundation, the Caring for Kids Initiative will start the year with additional funds.
“We are thrilled to receive this generous grant,” said Brenda Heim, CfKI director. “We will be able to better respond to the needs of low-income families for quality care and education.”
CfKI scholarships prepare children who are at higher risk of starting school behind their peers so they are ready for kindergarten. The program also includes parenting supports that enhance children’s school readiness and strengthens family dynamics.
Half of the families who have CfKI scholarships also receive support services in the areas of housing, food, employment, transportation, and are connected to other community resources.
