Caring for Kids Initiative coordinator Nancy Johnson wrote a column in the April 17, 2007, Lakeshore Weekly News:

Research by the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis documents that investing in programs for at-risk children’s early development and learning provides a significant rate of return. A 12-to-1 rate of return is a big bang for our collective buck.
