IOCP Tops Give to the Max Charts

November 17, 2011

At the stroke of midnight Nov. 16, the numbers spoke for themselves. Only 3 hours before, IOCP had moved into first place on the Give to the Max leaderboard, ahead of Cretin-Derham Hall and Second Harvest Heartland, who had held top spots much of the day.

IOCP did so because of an anonymous matching gift of $75,000. IOCP held on to a comfortable lead the rest of the evening.

Thanks to 466 donors, IOCP exceeded a $150,000 match, topped the GTMD chart for giving in one day, and broke its own record for donations in a single day. IOCP raised an impressive $317,249, which included $27,814 in offline contributions. In addition, IOCP will receive first place prize money of $15,000 and a $1,000 “golden ticket”, awarded to an individual donor chosen randomly every hour. The additional prize money puts IOCP’s total for the day at $333,249.

“The timing of Give to the Max Day coincides well with our Sleep Out Campaign, which runs mid-November through December,” said Jill Kohler, IOCP development co-director. “Each year, we’ve increased dollars raised on this day. We’re absolutely thrilled by this year’s results, and owe it all to our generous community of supporters.”

IOCP has participated in Give to the Max Day since it started in 2009. That year, it raised $48,000 in a single day of online giving. In 2010, with a $150,000 match, IOCP brought in $325,471 during Give to the Max Day from 478 donors.

“We love partnering with GiveMN.org,” added Kohler. “They offer amazing support for nonprofits and a whole toolkit of ideas for promoting the day.”
