Volunteers are the power and passion behind our work. Coming here from all walks of life, volunteers play an irreplaceable role. Workshops and training serve as a way to recognize the contributions of our volunteers and help us all do our work better. Please join us!
Interfaith Outreach invites you to our volunteer orientation intended for those who have begun volunteering with the organization and are ready to learn more. The goals of the orientation are to:
- Deepen your understanding of our client community
- Review our work and the approach we take in our work
- Explore key concepts that are important to our work together
- Equip you to respond to questions about Interfaith Outreach and our clients
All volunteers are HIGHLY encouraged to attend. We will offer these sessions on a monthly basis. Questions? Contact Liz Erstad-Hicks.
VOLUNTEER WORKSHOP: RECOGNIZING & ADDRESSING BIAS
We all have biases! That’s a fact. What are they? How do they work? How can we respond when we identify them? Current volunteers are invited to join us at an interactive workshop to explore these questions together as we work to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment throughout Interfaith Outreach.
The workshop presenter is Dr. Abdul Omari from AMO Enterprise. Dr. Omari holds a B.A. in global studies, a master’s of public policy from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, and a Ph.D. in comparative and international development education from the University of Minnesota. He is an elected member of the Board of Regents at the University of Minnesota and serves on the Board of Directors for the YMCA Greater Twin Cities, AchieveMpls and Civic Eagle.
Any current, active volunteer at Interfaith Outreach is welcome to attend. Snacks provided. Space is limited, please RSVP. Questions? Contact Liz Erstad-Hicks.
