Year-round, life-long volunteer
Since 1991, Gail Munsell has volunteered at IOCP in virtually every aspect of the organization.
She began as co-chair of the transportation department. She’s also worked extensively with the Caring for Kids Initiative, given rides to people taking English as a Second Language classes, helped with backpack buddies, the client holiday program, back-to-school effort, and literacy tutoring. Now she’s coordinating and training volunteers for the children’s play area in IOCP’s new reception area.
“I like being around people who are movers and shakers in the community, who know how to get things done,” Gail said. “It’s also gratifying to see things that have happened because of the work I’ve been involved in, whether it’s raising money or programming for CfKI.”
Her efforts around children and education are no coincidence. Gail was an educator for more than 25 years, teaching in the Wayzata Public Schools.
Gail and her husband Bill, an IOCP board member, have also supported the organization financially. “We’ve been very blessed in life, and feel like not only should we give back, we have to,” she added.
