Child Care
Only half of Minnesota’s children come to kindergarten fully prepared. When kids start out behind, they tend to stay behind. IOCP wants to change those odds for the children it serves.
Based on need, IOCP case managers provide short-term direct assistance for child care to families facing a crisis or transition. IOCP case managers also connect eligible families to the Caring for Kids Initiative, a scholarship program that provides preschoolers of low-income families access to quality child care or pre-kindergarten, as well as parent education and support.
Direct Assistance
Lack of safe, quality, affordable, consistent child care keeps many parents of preschoolers from finding and keeping a job. IOCP case managers help families apply for child care assistance and, based on need, provide short-term financial assistance during a crisis or transition.
