We celebrate our 40th Anniversary with jump-and-shout thanks for you and for all of the literally thousands of just-in-time people and partners and miracles that have come together to build a community we can all be proud of. We’ve dubbed this 40-year milestone:
Our Community. Our Home. 40 Years Together.
Emphasis together. If we’ve learned anything along the way it’s that it does take a whole village to raise our children, and that together, we can and we are building a welcoming, responsive, inclusive, healing community for all who make their home with us.
At the same time, we recognize a need to plan for the organizational structure and leadership that will keep our shared vision and mission alive and well into the future.
A goal of Interfaith’s 2019–21 Strategic Plan is to complete organizational succession planning. Action on that goal gained momentum when, in early 2019, Susan Geller, our Associate Director of Operations and Organizational Advancement, gave notice of her decision to make a career change. Susan’s gifted leadership has been an invaluable asset during a period of rapid organizational growth, and her contributions have helped position us for moving forward with a new organizational structure and succession planning. Susan’s last day was May 31. Our heartfelt thanks and best wishes go with Susan on the next chapter of her journey.
I am pleased to announce that Nancy Holden, Associate Director of Revenue and Resource Advancement, has accepted an interim Chief Operating Officer (COO) role at Interfaith Outreach. In addition to continued oversight of our Development, Communications, and Community Engagement Departments, Nancy will provide oversight of our Program and Finance & Operations Departments as well. Nancy’s keen grasp of the challenges and opportunities of managing a growing organization, as well as her solid experience, skills, nonprofit savvy, and heart for the vision and mission of Interfaith, are a real plus in this period of structural transition and succession planning. Thank you, Nancy!
The board of Interfaith has begun a search for a permanent COO who will have a path to succession as Executive Director in the next 2-3 years. Until that time, I will continue as Executive Director with a focus on growing community investment in three key areas: housing, education, and mental health.
Thank you so much for staying with us as you, we, all of us together step boldly into the next “40.” It’s such a privilege to work with you.
Stay with us, friends.
