Unemployment Insurance

MN’s Unemployment Insurance (UI) program assists workers who can’t work, have their hours reduced or lose their jobs as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The UI program is prepared and ready to assist these workers. If you are unemployed or have your hours reduced, you may apply for unemployment benefits. View updates regarding Unemployment.

Apply for Unemployment Insurance Benefits here.

What happens after you apply:

  • -Within a few days of applying for benefits, they will send you an Information Handbook and password so you can access your account.
  • -Under Governor Tim Walz’s executive order, the regular non-payable week (or “waiting week”) requirement is waived. You can request and receive unemployment benefits as soon as you become unemployed.

  • The gap between net income and ordinary living costs for many families in our community is staggering. The daily costs of food, rent, child care, health care and transportation often exceed real income or leave people with difficult choices.

Employment Services provide a comprehensive approach to help people pursue living wage jobs.

We partner with local employers toward mutually beneficial opportunities that fill job vacancies and close job and income opportunity gaps. Additional partnerships with community colleges and job training centers enhance the marketability of job seekers.

The other game-changer for job seekers is an on-site computer lab where we offer computer and financial literacy classes.
