As part of Interfaith Outreach’s annual Prevent Hunger campaign (February 26-April 6, 2024), you can play a valuable role in raising awareness about suburban poverty and help address hunger in our community. Gather your colleagues, neighbors, team members or friends for a Food & Funds Drive to help neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
1) donate funds
Some of our most in-demand and nutritious food shelf items – fresh produce and meat – are also the most costly. When you donate funds to IOCP, you help us purchase these items for the best prices through our food network partners.
Your financial donation also supports IOCP services that prevent hunger before it starts or stop it in its tracks – by helping neighbors gain access to higher-paying jobs, affordable housing and child care, reliable transportation, and more.
Financial donations can be made at iocp.org/preventhunger and will count toward our Prevent Hunger efforts as long as they are made before April 6, 2024. Thank you!
2) collect mealtime and household staples
This year, we’re asking the community to donate specific items to supplement our food shelf inventory using our easy online SignUp Genius Food Drive.
- Name-brand boxed cereal
- Canned tuna
- Canned chicken
- Vegetable oil (24 oz. bottles)
- Salad dressing
- Hearty soups
We are also in need of paper bags (for packing food shelf goods), as well as paper towels, maxi pads, and tampons.
3) DROP OFF mondays, wednesdays or fridays between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
If you cannot drop off during these hours, please email getinvolved@iocp.org. Please schedule large donation drop-offs by filling out the form on our Food Shelf Donations page.
